Coupon links you can tell apart

A coupon usually has one offer and many places it appears: an email, a story, a receipt, a partner site. If every place uses the same long address, the click report cannot tell them apart.

Make one short link per place. Keep the destination the same — the page that shows the code and the terms — and put the difference in the slug or the UTM tags.

One link, one place

Decide the destination first. That page should show the code, when it ends, and what it applies to. The short link only carries people there.

PlaceExample slugUTM
Email to customersspring-emailutmsource=email, utmmedium=newsletter, utm_campaign=spring
Instagram biospring-igutmsource=instagram, utmmedium=social, utm_campaign=spring
A partner sitespring-partnerutmsource=partner, utmmedium=referral, utm_campaign=spring

LinkBit leaves UTM tags that are already on the destination address alone. Add tags when you create the short link if the shop URL does not have them yet.

A custom slug is optional. spring-email is easier to read aloud than a random code. If the visible text does not matter, skip the slug and use UTM only.

What the clicks tell you

Open the stats for that short link. You get clicks, countries, devices, and referrers. Compare spring-email with spring-ig and you see which place sent people, without a separate analytics project.

You do not see who redeemed the code at checkout. The short link counts visits. Redemption still lives in the shop.

How long the link stays up

A free LinkBit link expires 30 days after you create it. If the coupon must work longer than that, use Pro or Business. Those links stay active. An expired short link is a dead coupon, even when the code in the shop is still valid.

If the offer page moves, edit the destination. People who already have the short address follow the new page. You do not need a new slug.

Check it before you send it

  1. Open the short link on a phone.
  2. Confirm the code and the terms are on that page.
  3. Confirm the UTM tags you wanted are still on the final address.
  4. Save the short link next to the coupon name, so the next campaign does not reuse a slug that already means something else.

LinkBit shortens the link. The UTM builder adds the tags before you shorten.
